A Welcoming Church Entryway, Without Construction

A church narthex is an entryway or gathering area just outside the main worship space, where greeters welcome guests and worshippers pause before entering. For one Houston congregation, Screenflex room dividers helped establish this welcoming space while plans for a permanent narthex were on hold.

Room to Welcome Worshippers

Following a building expansion, the church had limited funds remaining for a narthex. Exterior doors opened directly into the sanctuary, leaving little space for greeters to welcome guests or late arrivals to pause before entering.
A portable room divider provided a practical way to separate the entrance from the worship area.

A Simple Setup with More Purpose

The church selected a seven-panel divider with fabric to complement its decor. Staff rolled the fully assembled divider into position, giving worshippers a dedicated gathering area just inside the doors. Also, artwork hangers added another use for the panels: displaying church information and images for the congregation.

Useful Beyond the Entryway

Once a permanent narthex was completed, the church planned to move the divider into its education building. Looking for more ways to use your worship space? Contact Screenflex and request a free layout plan.
