There were 9 Chilis featured in the Chili Cook-Off. The variety ranged from Turkey, Chicken, Vegetarian, Classic and Dirty Bean ( a Mexican version of Chili) The winning recipe was a surprise. Not the Classic Chili you would expect. The overall winner was a Chicken Chili. It was delicious. The base was a canned Chili bean found at Costco. It was then doctored with some extra ingredients. The Chicken Chili was a big hit.
Another stand out recipe was Apple Crisp. It made a nice compliment to the Chili dishes. Sweet and tart at the same time. Below is the recipe.

6 Apples peeled, cored and sliced
1 Cup water
1 (1 Box) package white cake mix
1 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
Cup butter, melted
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
2. Arrange apples in an even layer in the bottom of a baking dish. Pour water over apples.
3. In a medium bowl mix together cake mix, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter or margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture over apples.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes.
